Mikan Watch #65: Rock Lee and his Ninja Buddies

Posted by DiGiKerot in Mikan Watch at May 2, 2012 on 6:49 pm

From the first episode of the Rock Lee centric Naruto spin-off comes this example, submitted King Author. Not that this show wasn’t on my checklist for the season anyway, but obviously he got there before me by a good few hours. Then I sat on posting this for a month. Yay for procrastination, I guess.

I can’t really say I have anything in particular to say about the show, which is becoming all too common in these posts – in this case, it’s because I’ve only watched the first episode, and given that was four weeks ago now I can no longer remember any particular reaction I had to the show (which I suppose is reflective on the show itself, in a sense). There are plenty of higher priority things to be watching, and between that, excursions, internet outages and other recent timesinks, it’s not really been something I’ve been in a hurry to watch more of. I’ve not seen mainline Naruto in years either (I’ve not seen, nor read, any of Shippuden), so there’s also the concern that most of the humour, or at least the more injokey elements, would fly way over my head.

(The iM@S news for the day, lest people worry I’m slipping in that regard, is the announcement of the second character for the second series of the Cinderella Girls CDs, which I don’t really have any specific comment on either. I’m quite sure that, as a series, the upcoming regular churn of these CDs exist purely to dissuade those who may be tempted to divert their towards playing iMac. Or perhaps not).

Mikan Watch #64:Yuri Seijin Naoko-san

From, err, Yuri Seijin Naoko-san. Apparently. I can’t say I’ve ever seen it, or even have any idea what it actually is – Mr. Shillito submitted this one via the Twitters. I’m assuming it’s got something to do with lesbians and aliens and stuff of the ilk.

Man, I’ve got a big backlog of this Mikan Watch stuff (by which I mean, err, three or four) that I’ve been lazy/procrastinating about actually posting about. Suppose that I should really get around to processing them at some point.

Suppose that’s what I’m doing here, though ^^;

Mikan Watch #63: Milky Holmes 2

From Episode 8 of Milky Holmes, which went up on NicoNico yesterday, though I admit I blatantly stole this screen grab from elsewhere. I mean, aside from the big NicoNico watermark that you’d otherwise be inflicted with, I’m presently on a train and I’ve not got enough 3G bandwidth left to stream the episode back down again merely for the sake of taking a picture.

Anyway, it’s being used as a desk, which is a not-uncommon use for such a thing in anime.

Mikan Watch #62: The Tatami Galaxy

From, well, it’s in a couple of different episodes, I guess. I took this shot from the last episode, but it’s reused footage from an earlier instalment.

Mikan Watch #61: Listen To Me Girls, I Am Your Father!

Posted by DiGiKerot in Mikan Watch at February 16, 2012 on 10:16 pm

From Listen To Me Girls, I Am Your Father!, or PapaKiki as those who don’t want to type long titles (or wish to disguise how embarrassingly titled the show they’re watching is) are fond of calling it. This was a submission from Mr. Shillito over the Twitters – I have to admit, I’ve not so much as braved an episode of the show myself. The concept briefing and the Haruhi-design mimicry that the promotional art displayed, along with the shows title, set enough alarm bells off in my head that avoidance seemed the only sensible course of action. As such, I’ve no idea which episode this was from. I’d have to presume it’s the most recent one (Episode 6, was it?).

So, yeah, this isn’t exactly an interesting post, because I’ve got absolutely nothing to say about the show in question. Absolutely nothing at all. Sorry.
