Because There Are Only Two Buildings In Akihabara?

Just because this amused me, more than me having anything particularly interesting to say.

So apparently the thing I do when having been away over the first couple of days of the new anime season, faced with an every increasing number of first episodes that I should really probably check out, is to pull something that’s languished on my shelf for months now to watch instead. I suppose it’s at least the prior season of something that’s restarting this season, but that’s not exactly helping the situation.

In any case, when watching OreImo, I couldn’t help but be amused by the establishing shot they used for Kirino’s first visit to Akihabara in the shows second episode.

The One Thing Which Really Bugs Me About Vividred…

Posted by DiGiKerot in Random Stuff at March 3, 2013 on 9:18 pm

…Isn’t the hardburned subtitles or the permanent ident which are present on the Crunchyroll presentation of the show, though on the off-chance that someone from Aniplex is reading – if you’re going to insist on slapping your company logo (way larger than most TV channel idents, might I add) on foreign streams of your shows, than can I mention how terrible in terms of placement the bottom-right of the screen is? All what happens is that audiences attention is drawn to it by the frequent appearance of pert schoolgirl buttocks subtitles along the bottom of the screen.

Anyway, the thing which really kind of bugs me about the show is Rei’s scarf. I mean, not the fact that she wears a scarf or anything – scarves are cool, even when they aren’t amazingly heroic-looking red ones billowing awesomely in the wind – but the fact that it’s drawn in a fashion that doesn’t make any sense. I look at the thing and see something akin to a really stupid Professor Layton puzzle, where the aim is to mentally trace a line connecting the two ends of the scarf together, but I simply can’t do it. I can’t mentally parse it. It makes no sense to me. It’s something I find way more distracting than any absurd degree of male gaze on display in the show.

Clearly, I am just stupid, or am at least missing something really obvious. If anyone has an answer for this on, please let me know.

Girls und Spam OAV2

I have to admit, had I not been informed about this beforehand, this really isn’t the kind of reference I would have expected to see in the new Girls und Panzer OAV…

A Farewell to Katyusha

No, I’m not bidding farewell to the character Katyusha, who appears in the most recent episode of this seasons not-so-secret best show Girls und Panzer, but rather the Russian wartime song of the same name, sang by the character who shares it’s name in the same episode of the same show.

Or maybe not, depending how and when you watched it. You see, not just the song, but the entire scene in question was removed between it’s initial Japanese TV broadcast earlier in the week, and it’s streaming on Crunchyroll this morning – the episode up on Crunchy at the time of writing is in the region of fifty seconds shorter than the average anime episode. Which is kind of annoying for those of us who wait to watch things the entirely-above-board way, particularly when it’s the one scene that everyone else had been highlighting as, well, the highlight of the episode. Ho-hum.

Volcano Collection

This is one of those things which would probably register as being “weird” as opposed to merely “curious” if it were happening in a different show, but the ninth episode of Sengoku Collecion threw in a bunch of references to the Korean martial arts movie Volcano High…
